Lady Estelle T. Barada New Rochelle, New York “A true Victorian upholds and values morality and decorum. These are something to learn and endure. It is a state of being, not a club or society.”As a young girl, Lady Estelle would pretend to go to England and visit the Queen. Now as an adult she has become the true Victorian lady that she has always dreamed of. This passionate woman loves the etiquette and decorum of the Victorian days. She also appreciates her wholesome upbringing and family life. Read more of this interview by TimeWarpWiveshttp://timewarpwivesinterviews.blogspot.com/
I am so thrilled and excited about next weekend. On May 30th, I will be leaving Rhode Island to Pennsylvania for a two night stay at the enchanting and elegant Stegmier Mansion. The Frederick Stegmaier Mansion was built in 1870 by locally renowned Victorian architect Missouria B. Houpt as his private residence. Frederick Stegmaier, president of the Stegmaier Brewery, purchased the mansion in 1906 where it remained in the Stegmaier family until the late 1940's. In 2001 Joseph Matteo acquired the mansion and meticulously restored it to its former opulence. Located in the River Street Historic District of Luzerne County, Pennsylvania, and adjacent to several colleges and universities, the Frederick Stegmaier Mansion is operating today as an Historic House Museum, Banquet facility and Grand Bed and Breakfast.http://www.stegmaiermansion.com/

This is my brand new circa 1940's vanity! I got this vintage beauty as a surprise gift for my wedding anniversary! My hubby knew that I had an eye on this cutie when I visited my favorite thrift store. So a few days later, my wonderful husband came back home, I opened the garage door and ta ra! There it was, my vanity was home! Read more at my blog: The Retrochic Corner
On a beautiful Sunday after noon in July , I enjoyed a Victorian picnic on the Hearthside House lawn. My friends are all Civil War Re-enactors from Mass. It was a glorious day of meeting, sharing and a true step back in time.Find more photos like this on The True Victorian/Edwardian
Jayne Mansfield could pose the hell out of a photo. Her friend too. This photo is a reminder of things I need in my life:1) More sass. ASAP.2) A fierce bullet bra (the better to intimidate the fellows with)3) A snug pair of high waisted capris that would show off my slim ankles. My ankles are very slim.4) Jayne's hair. ON MY HEAD. That stuff is a pure lovely whipped confection.Anyone have ideas how to rescue split ends and flat hair from themselves and rend strands into confection? ANYONE?
We welcome all to our new Time Warp Living network! We can't wait to find out what everyone has been up to. We hope that you will enjoy your stay in our new home. Great to have you back!
I myself am a avid stocking wearer. Tights are well one uncomfortable and two sweaty and quite unsightly...Just the other day I was asked by some one, yes a complete stranger. Was I wearing tights or stockings? when I said I didn't like tights is was as if I had said a swear word to them...Are you girls with me on this one do tights really stand a chance up against my beloved stockings!!!

Please Let me introduce myself. My name is Gingeygine or GG...My dilemma it seems is that I cannot find a decent hairspray that really does as it claims...I have tried the dearer brands, cheaper brands most brands! I need a spray that will hold my victory rolls steadfast on a blustery day...If any of you dear ladies can recommend one,and I haven't tried it...I would be oh so grateful...cheerio as my pin curling calls...GG
I have noticed in a lot of photos from the 30's, 40's and 50's, women seemed much healthier than today. It seems like they took good care of their figures. I've been searching around the Internet trying to find out specific diets from that era that I could apply to my modern life. I would love to have the same figure I see in old photos. Can anyone recommend a book or site that might have some really good ideas or recipes that are nutricious and weight friendly? Thank you.
One of the local colleges is hosting a collection of vintage children's wear. It makes me want to sew a bunch of little dresses and suits for my kids!http://www.tfc.unt.edu/wp-content/uploads/2010/01/Childs-Play-Onlin...
Does anyone know of a website that outlines the basic designs and silhouettes for each decade? I'm fairly new to vintage from 1920's onward. I bought some blouses today at a thrift store that look like they might be 40's inspired, but I can't quite tell.
No matter what time period we re-enact; for most men, it happens pretty much the same way everyday:We get up, have coffee and then it's time to get ready for the day.Okay, we all know that shaving has that "robotic", motion (like brushing teeth) and it is such a mundane task that we tend to hurry through it, after all, it was handed down upon us by the "civilized world" we men have been required to get the best shave possible but yet how many of us have hurried up and maybe even did a "dry shave"? What are we in "boot camp" again? I think not.I turned from the disposable razor a long time ago and started using the shaving blades with a Gillette double-edged razor and I do like it.There are several different types of razors that men can use that include; disposable, electric, disposable bladed blade razor and straight razors. Each is different and utilizes a different type of blade that is unique to them only. Not all men are alike – which means that where one men prefers the blade razor the other might prefer the electric. (The first electric razor was patented in 1928 by the American manufacturer Col. Jacob Schick and The Remington Rand Corporation developed the electric razor further, first producing the Remington brand of razor in 1937)I have often wondered what our faces really go through when we shave, you know what I am talking about...the redness, the irritating and the sting. For some it must be a very trying time as the cheap razor blade starts "scraping" off the whiskers, it just sounds and feels awful. Then for others, they just grow a beard and call it good but we need to remember that in a man's life we have only a few things we can do to "pamper" ourselves and one of them is shaving.so starting off let's talk about the "straight razor"I found this beginner’s guide to "shaving like your great-grandpa". The article says that they couldn’t possibly put everything there is to know about straight razor shaving in a single article, but they present the essentials of this old time shaving ritual.http://artofmanliness.com/2009/10/06/how-to-straight-razor-shave/no matter what you shave with, check this out and share your thoughts. Thanks talk at ya' later maybeLucky
Hello everyone! I do apologize for the lack of show around here. I have encountered some technical difficulties in this website that I am hoping to solve with the administrators. Thanks for becoming part of our vintage home! - Carmen
Interesting, nothing happening on the site for a while, no posts, no updates etc....sad, we have almost 700 members and no one is actively involved with this site?...anyone doing any "time warping" out there?
Yes! Spring is here (in most places;-) re-enactments have started up for the battles so.....are there any 1920's, 30's or 40's re-enactments in the Midwest? if so we would love to hear about them!
Great to be back again! What a crazy winter we had down here in Florida. This week we are having the best weather ever! Spring flowers are blooming everywhere and the sun is bright. I am just loving it!
Featured Video: Living History. Meet the Archer's!
The Archer's like to call themselves "Period Authenticians," meaning: every item that you see from their clothing, to the "things you don't see," are either an authentic antique piece, or a vintage period piece; not one thing is a reproduction. So, it doesn't get much better than this in trying to capture or recreate, "the way it truly was!"
